LIMÓN TECHNIQUE DANCE INTENSIVE
For the 3rd year running Merseyside Dance Initiative welcomes back Alan Danielson, the studio
Director of the Limón Institute, New York. Alan will lead a 5-day intensive on the Humphrey/Limón
tradition. The technique is a humanistic approach to dance, its principles are derived from the
most primary elements of the body - breath, gravity & time. The Humphrey/Limón tradition helps prepare
dancers for the infinite possibilities of contemporary dance through the articulation of the body and
the specificity of intention. This year's course will again consist of sections of technique,
theory & repertory. Emphasis will be on exploring the principles of the Humphrey/Limón technique and
will include floor work and partnering. The fundamental elements of the technique will be used to
examine personal movement and dancers will explore rhythm as a way to enhance the texture and dynamics
of their movement.
The dance intensive takes place at Liverpool Hope University, Cornerstone Campus, Liverpool from 10am-4pm,
Monday 28th May-Friday 1st June 2007. The cost is £120/£100.
