BARWEN TAVAZIVA DANCE INTENSIVE
The third Dance Intensive of this Leverhulme Trust programme will be led by Barwen Tavaziva, Artistic Director and
Choreographer for Tavaziva Dance Company based in London.
Barwen will be teaching in a Contemporary Dance idiom. His technique combines the aesthetic line of contemporary dance
and is strongly informed by the rhythmical patterns of African Dance. His movement is physically demanding, intricate and
challenging. There will be an opportunity to discuss his choreographic style and learn rep sequences from recent
performance pieces. Participants will develop material taught in class in a creative exploration of their own ideas.
The Dance Intensive takes place at Liverpool Hope University, Cornerstone Campus, Liverpool from 10am-4pm,
Saturday 22nd September-Sunday 23rd September 2007. The cost is £50/£40.
